ADRIAN - A new detachment of the Marine Corps League has been established in Adrian.

Detachment members were recognized Saturday as full charter members of the Marine Corps League detachment. Dan Harrington, Adrian, is Commandant, Gary Stewart, Worthington, is Senior Vice Commandant and Cory Flint, Currie, is Junior Vice Commandant. Other detachment officers include Jeff Bema, Chit Keo, Brandon Van Horn and John Stewart.

Harrington said the Marine Corps League is dedicated to helping their fellow Marines, FMF Corpsman and Chaplains and fellow veterans and their families.

“Being a Marine is being part of a brotherhood, and that means always having each other’s back,” Harrington said. “The Marine Corps motto, ‘Semper Fidelis,’ means ‘always faithful,’ and the Marine Corps League is a way to stay faithful to fellow veterans in need of support. Marines take care of each other - not only while we're in the service, but when we are out, too.”

Although the Marine Corps League is a Marine Corps-specific organization, it welcomes veterans from all branches of the military and will provide support for any individual in need.

Associate membership is available to people who want to support the local detachment in preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps.

The Buffalo Ridge Leatherneck detachment meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Adrian American Legion, Argonne Post 32, 109 Main Ave., Adrian. For more information or if interested in joining, call Harrington at (507) 360-7472.
