WORTHINGTON -- Worthington City Council Members approved replacement of the sound system for the Memorial Auditorium Tuesday during their council meeting.
Jacob Forstein, technical director for the auditorium explained the current sound system failed early last month.
Damage to several components hinder further use of the system.
Two companies provided replacement quotes with Fall Pro Sound providing the lower quote of $11,300.
Council members authorized the bid from Fall Pro Sound.

"It's a company with a new name that they have extended their services under," Forstein said, adding Fall Pro Sound has previously conducted work for Memorial Auditorium.
He continued to explain the amplifier and mixing control equipment needed for the auditorium -- as recommended by Fall Pro Sound -- are mid-range equipment.
Mayor Alan Oberloh questioned the upgrades for both equipment, as suggested by the second company R & D.
"Those are meant for large venues," Forstein said. "We just don't need it."
The sound system replacement will be funded by the James and Florence Vance Trust Fund.
In a separate matter, Cameron Johnson -- Manager of the Worthington Municipal Airport -- presented an overview on the city's airport.
"We view the airport as a gateway to our community here in Worthington," Johnson said.
He spoke on the existing features of the airport as well as the current hangar project. The project will provide four additional hangars for lease. The airport currently leases 17 of the 18 existing "T hangars."

In other business, the council:
* Approved a resolution of consent for the issuance of revenue bonds by the South Dakota Health and Educational Facilities Authority for the Worthington Avera Health project. Avera Health is currently working with South Dakota Health and Educational Facilities Authority to issue bonds that will finance several of Avera Health's capital improvement projects, including the construction of the 60,000 square feet clinic on Ryans Road. The city of Worthington has no financial liability concerning the revenue bonds.
* Approved the final plat request from Prairie Ventures L.L.C. to replat Prairie Holdings Subdivision, which is located on the west portion of block 1, Prairie Expo first addition.
* Approved three work change requests for the new fire station. In total, the change orders will reduce $3,389 from the project budget.
* Approved an off-site gambling application submitted by the Worthington Hockey Association for a Raffles draw.
* Approved a temporary on-sale liquor license application for Avera Medical Group to conduct a wine tasting event at the 2012 Women's Expo, Saturday, March 24.
