IRENE REITSMA, 71, of Edgerton, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at the Tuff Village, Hills.

Born Sept. 21, 1934, in Maurice, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Marie Beukhof De Bruin. She married Peter Gorter on Jan. 19, 1954. He died in September 1964. She married Peter Reitsma in July 1967. He died Oct. 18, 1968.

She grew up near Alvoord, Iowa, and attended Garfield Township country school through eighth grade. After her first marriage, they farmed near Kenneth and Leota. After her second marriage, they lived on a farm near Chandler. After her second husband's death, she moved to Edgerton. She entered assisted living in 2004. She completed her GED as her younger children finished high school. She was an active emergency medical technician with the Edgerton Ambulance Association for 25 years. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton, where she was church librarian and a Sunday school teacher. She also served as a volunteer soccer coach.

Surviving are six children, John (Barb) Gorter, Peoria, Iowa, Jerry (Anne-Marie) Gorter, Nooksack, Wash., Karen (Rick) Fey, Edgerton, Rod (Lydia) Gorter, Sioux Center, Iowa; Brad (Glenda) Gorter, Renton, Wash., and Leah (Joel) Slenk, Bellflower, Calif.; one brother, Gerrit De Bruin; two sisters, Marie Postma and Helena Neimeyer; 25 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Edgerton.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Memorials are preferred to the radio fund at First Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton.

ANNIE PRINS, 94, of Edgerton, formerly of Leota, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at Edgebrook Care Center, Edgerton.

Born Sept. 8, 1911, near Leota, she was the daughter of Gerrit Vos and Marrigje Vander Wal. She married Peter P. Prins on May 1, 1935.

She grew up in the Leota area and continued to live and work there after marriage. She moved to the Edgebrook apartments in Edgerton in January 1995. She became a resident of Edgebrook Care Center, Edgerton, in March. She was a member of Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, Leota, where she worked for several years as a janitor.

Surviving are her husband; five children, Marlys (Stan) Vander Maten, Leota, Stanley (Pat) Prins, Redlands, Calif., Gordon (Judy) Prins, Edgerton, Wesley (Betty) Prins, Susanville, Calif., and Kenneth (Karen) Prins, Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Dick Vos; two sisters, Jennie Vis and Alice Krosschell; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, Leota.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, Leota, with the Rev. Joe VandenAkker officiating. Burial will be in Leota Cemetery.

MARGARET LORRAINE HICKEY, 99, of Sanborn, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at Prairie View Nursing Home, Sanborn.

Born April 17, 1907, in Sanborn, she was the daughter of Clare and Edna Snieder Hakeman. She married Lawrence Hickey in 1931. He died in 1984.

She spent her childhood years in Sanborn and attended the public school there. She later graduated from Iowa State Teacher's College and taught school for a few years. After marriage, they farmed and raised their family on a farm north of Sanborn. In 1958, they built a home in Sanborn and moved to town. She moved in 1990 to Jackson, where she lived until entering an assisted living facility in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She later returned to Sanborn and became a resident of Prairie View Nursing Home.

Surviving are two daughters, Jean (George) Benda, Alpha, and Virginia (John) Termeer, Montgomery, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The service will be 11 a.m. today at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Sanborn, with the Rev. Tim Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn.

Sanborn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES "BUTCH" SCHOEWE, 62, of rural Mountain Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at his home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kramer Family Funeral Home, Trimont, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kimball Township, Jackson County.

The service will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kimball Township, Jackson County, with the Rev. Rick Bremseth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.

MARGARET MORMANN, 83, of Worthington, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Sunset Hospice Cottage, Worthington.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m., with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m., at Dingmann Funeral Home, Worthington.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Larry Brixius officiating. Burial will be in Adrian Cemetery.
