ARLYN JOSEPH SEVERTSON, 79, of Luverne, formerly of rural Kenneth, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Luverne Hospice Cottage.

Born May 28, 1926, on the home farm in Vienna Township, Rock County, he was the son of Bernhard and Sena Anderson Severtson. He married Sigrid Barstad on March 21, 1958, at Grace Lutheran Church, Luverne. She died in 2005.

He graduated from Luverne High School in 1944, and later graduated from Waldorf College, Forest City, Iowa, with an accounting degree. He began farming on the family farm after his father died. He was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War for two years until his discharge. After marriage, they lived on the family farm in rural Kenneth until they retired and moved to Luverne in 1990. He was a member of Kenneth Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sons, David (LaNore) Severtson, Luverne, and Sterling (Denise) Severtson, Kenneth; two brothers, Erling (Roberta) Severtson, Kenneth, and Luther (Corinne) Severtson, Canby; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kenneth Lutheran Church.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kenneth Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kerry Boese officiating. Burial will be in the Kenneth Cemetery.

PAULINE VANDE KIEFT, 81, of Pipestone, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Pipestone County Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hartquist Funeral Home, Pipestone.

The service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Community Church, Pipestone. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery.
