SHIRLEY ANN DARDIS, 72, of Mankato, formerly of Tracy, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Born Sept. 7, 1933, in Tracy, she was the daughter of Palmer and Mabel Miller Johnson. She married Donald Dardis on June 20, 1961, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Currie. He died Jan. 4, 2001.
She attended school in Tracy and Cottonwood. After her schooling, she worked at The Eat Shop in Tracy, and Wieners in Marshall. After marriage, they lived in Amiret, Tracy and on the family farm near Currie. They retired together in Mankato. After her husband's death, she continued living in Mankato. She volunteered at the Thrift Shop and at St. Peter's and St. Paul's Catholic Church, Mankato.
Surviving are five sons, Chuck (Lori) Dardis, Tracy, David (Kathy) Dardis, Fulda, Pat Dardis, Appleton, Wis., Bob (Judy) Dardis, Prior Lake, and Kevin (Mickey) Dardis, St. Clair; one daughter, Sandy (Bill Stoneman) Dardis, McFarland, Wis.; one brother, Marvin (Jan) Johnson, St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Joyce (Jake) Newton, Russell, and Betty Campion, Yankton, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 6 p.m. prayer service, at Tracy Area Funeral Home, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tracy.

ROSEMARY COLETTA HABERMAN, 68, of Brewster, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at her home.
Born Dec. 24, 1937, in Duncombe, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Dola Gunderson Simons. She married Robert Lawrence Haberman on Oct. 15, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Worthington.
She completed elementary school at St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Worthington High School in 1956. After marriage, they farmed outside of Brewster, east of Worthington. They retired from farming in 1996. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Brewster, and St. Mary's Catholic Church, Worthington. She taught CCD religious classes to the children of Sacred Heart for 26 years. She was past president of Sacred Heart Alter Society and was a member of the Sacred Heart prayer chain. She authored the parish History of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1988.
Surviving are her husband; one son, Thomas (Teresa) Haberman, Worthington; one daughter, Stacy (Dan) Dotzler, Rosemount; two brothers, Francis (Cynthia) Simons, Hayesville, N.C., and John (Allyson) Simons, Yorktown, Va.; four sisters, Joann (Arnold) Moulds, Lake City, Iowa, Rita (Ted) Broberg, Seattle, Wash., Cheryl (Leon) Roden, Ten Sleep, Wyo., and Rebecca Vorsten, Lytton, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. prayer service, at Benson Funeral Home, Worthington.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Larry Brixius officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Brewster.

MYRA HOEKSTRA, 85, of Rock Rapids, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids.
Born Oct. 16, 1920, on the family farm in Cleveland Township, Lyon County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Robert and Alma Rosenberg. She married Erwin Hoekstra on Aug. 23, 1938. He died in 1992.
At the age of 4, she and her family moved to Rock Rapids. She attended Rock Rapids Community School and later graduated in 1938. After marriage, they lived in Rock Rapids until March 1943, then moved to Detroit, Mich., where Erwin began doing contract work for the government. In March 1948, they moved back to the Rock Rapids area to continue farming where Myra was born. In 1978, they retired from farming while their son, Scott, resumed the farming duties. In 1985, they moved back to town.
Surviving are four sons, Gene (Marcia) Hoekstra, Dunnelon, Fla., Ed (Linda Woelber) Hoekstra, Tucson, Ariz., Scott (Eloise) Hoekstra, Rock Rapids, and Ron (Beth) Hoekstra, Castle Rock, Colo.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christian Church (Disciples), Rock Rapids, Iowa, with the Rev. Gregg Pudwill officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids.
BERTHA "DOTTIE" SCHMIDT, 76, of Avoca, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospice in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Born May 24, 1929, on a farm in Murray County, she was the daughter of Paul and Ida Bremer Zanter. She married Leland Schmidt on Feb. 24, 1949, at the American Lutheran Church parsonage, Avoca.
She grew up on the family farm, attended Avoca Elementary School, and graduated from Slayton High School in 1947. After marriage, they lived in Avoca until 1953 when they moved to Walker. They operated a dairy farm, and she worked at the bakery in town. In 1958, they returned to Avoca and, along with partner Erna Niehaus, she operated Friendly Tavern for a few years. She also did cleaning at the elevator, church and parsonage. She was an active member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Avoca, where she belonged to W.E.L.C.A. and Circle.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Michael (Bonnie) Schmidt, Monticello, and Steven Schmidt, Avoca; one brother, George Zanter, Slayton; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Totzke Funeral Home, Slayton, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Avoca.

GEORGE P. HEIKES, 86, of Rock Rapids, formerly of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at Rock Rapids Health Care Centre in Rock Rapids.

EDWIN OBBINK, 74, of Edgerton, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006.
Born Dec. 8, 1931, he was the son of Richard and Nellie Brunsting Obbink. He married Betty Groenweg on June 6, 1951, in Rock Valley, Iowa.
He grew up on a farm near Hawarden, Iowa, and attended country school. Upon completion of his education, he worked on the family farm. After farming in the Hawarden, Inwood, Iowa, and Canton, S.D., areas, they purchased a farm near Edgerton in 1968. After sale of the farm in 1971, he began working for Farmers Union Oil Co. of Luverne, and in 1974 he was employed as manager of HyPane Gas Co., Edgerton, until he retired in 1994. He served on the Edgerton Ambulance Association for 17 years and also served on the town council and Chamber of Commerce. He served as an elder and a deacon at his church, and also served as youth leader, Cadet leader and as a member of the missions committee, men's society and Grow Groups. He was treasurer of the Lake Geneva Family Bible Conference. He volunteered for various missions. He worked with CRWRC disaster situations with Rapid Response, Reconstruction and Needs Assessment, Sowers Ministry, Justice For All, Crossroads Prison Ministry and Southwest Minnesota Pro-Life. He repaired wheel chairs for Hope Haven.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Rod (Barb) Obbink, Edgerton, and Brad Obbink, Huron, S.D.; two daughters, Ronna (Doug) Tecken, George, Iowa, and Roxann (Ardene) Boysen, Flandreau, S.D.; four brothers, John (Donna) Obbink, Sioux Center, Iowa, Earl (Jan) Obbink, Littleton, Colo., Harv (Mary) Obbink, Orange City, Iowa, and Mel (Darlene) Obbink, Sioux City, Iowa; two sisters, Irene (Mitch) Van Berkel, Edgerton, and Vern Van Zanten, Pella, Iowa; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Colonial Funeral Chapel, Edgerton.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at The First Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton, with the Rev. Timothy Brown officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton, following the service.

VERA RECKA MULDER, 84, of Edgerton, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Edgebrook Rest Center in Edgerton.

Born April 7, 1921, in Ely, Kan., she was the daughter of Joseph and Emma Becker Foelgner. She married Robert Marvin Mulder on Feb. 12, 1949, in Great Bend, Kan.
She was raised on a farm near Larned, Kan. When she was 6, she moved with her parents to Great Bend, where she was raised and received her education. After her graduation from Great Bend High School in 1939, she worked for a short time at Woolworths. From March 1944 to 1945, she was employed in Douglas Aircraft in California as an office clerk. After World War II, she returned to Kansas. For three years, 1946-1948, she worked as a telephone operator in Great Bend. After marriage, they moved to Minnesota and lived in Marble Township, Lincoln County. In 1952, they moved to a farm in Limestone Township, and a year later they moved to a farm in Royal Township near Ivanhoe. On Dec. 24, 1969, they moved to Rock County, where they purchased a farm in Denver Township. This past summer, she entered Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home, Luverne. On Oct. 4, 2005, she became a resident of Edgebrook Rest Center, Edgerton. She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton, where she was active until poor health prevented her from attending. While living in Ivanhoe, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. For many years, she was a counselor for the Minnesota Extension Office, Ivanhoe, and was honored as "Outstanding Homemaker" in 1966. While living in Rock County, she was a member of the U-Go-I-Go Club and the Birthday Club.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Conrad Mulder, Hardwick, and Cameron Mulder, Kasota; two daughters, Joette (Dale) Remme, Ghent, and Leslie Mulder, Edgerton; two brothers, Vernon Foelgner, Bonita Springs, Fla., and Joe Foelgner, Jr., Great Bend, Kan.; one sister, Ida Fanshier, Great Bend, Kan.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home, Edgerton.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.
