ELLEN NELSEN, 88, of Westbrook, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.

Arrangements are pending with Westbrook Funeral Home.

MAVIS ANN SCHENK, 54, of Minneapolis, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007.

Born Jan. 27, 1953, in Springfield, she was the daughter of Armin and Elaine Krengel Schenk.

She grew up on a farm in southwest Minnesota. She earned a degree from the University of Minnesota in home economics and began her career at the University of Minnesota in the nutrition department, eventually moving to project management with Facilities Planning at University Hospital, now UMMC Fairview, where she worked for 30 years.

Surviving are her father; two brothers, Dean (Karen) Schenk, and Mark (Brenda) Schenk; and one sister, Diane (Denny).

The service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grace University Lutheran Church, 324 Harvard St. SE, Minneapolis.

Memorials are preferred to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

LLOYD JOHN VOSS, 65, of Scott Township, Pa., died Thursday, March 1, 2007.

Born Feb. 13, 1942, in Magnolia, he was the son of Hubert and Rosella Voss.

Surviving are three children, Suzanne, Thomas and Kristin Voss; two stepchildren, Jodi and Robert Kunkel; two grandchildren; and two step grandchildren

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at William Slater II Funeral Service, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Township.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Rd., Bethel Park. A private family burial will follow.

MILDRED B. PRATT, 94, of Marshfield, Wis., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Marshfield Center Nursing Home.

The service has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Gordon Orde officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 668, Worthington. Benson Funeral Home, Worthington, is handling the arrangements.

HARVEY "BUZZ" HITCH, 86, of Luverne, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Sanford Luverne Hospital.

Born Feb. 16, 1921, in Doniphan, Neb., he was the son of Harley and Margaret Weggers Hitch. He married Alvina Smeins Nov. 12, 1943, in Luverne.

He attended grade school in Doniphan and later attended country school District 50 in rural Luverne. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting overseas in Luxemburg, Belgium, France and Germany in the Battle of the Bulge. Following marriage, the couple lived in Luverne where he worked as a mechanic and gas station manager for Sam Volratrh, then Eli Walgrave and finally, Russ Ripley. Following retirement, he did odd jobs mowing lawn and blowing snow. He was a member of the Luverne American Legion and the Luverne VFW.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Harvey Hitch, Rochester; one daughter, Kathy Schadwinkel, Luverne; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne, with the Rev. Don Rakow officiating. Burial, with full military honors by the Luverne American Legion and the Luverne VFW, will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.

DEB BELL, 56, of Wilmont, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, in Wilmont.

The rescheduled visitation is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Wilmont.

Dingmann Funeral Home, Wilmont, is in charge of arrangements.

GENEVIEVE E. SCHARLES, 93, of Luverne, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home, Luverne.

Born Sept. 11, 1913, in Alcester, S.D., she was the daughter of Carl and Hilma Johnson Olson. She married Emeran "Ed" Scharles July 28, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa. He died in August 1979.

She spent her childhood in Alcester and played on the girls basketball team at Alcester High School, where she graduated in 1931. She attended Eastern State Normal college in Madison, S.D., where she earned her teaching certificate. She worked as a reporter for the Alcester Union from 1938 to 1943, and also did housekeeping and baby-sitting. Following marriage, the couple resided in Sioux City. She moved to Luverne in 1985. She was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church, Sioux City, as well as the African Violet Club and a square dancing club.

Surviving are two nieces, Loretta (Warren) Baker, Steen, and Wendy Woodruff, Lodi, Calif.; and three nephews, Doug (Ellen) Olson, Beaver Creek, Gary (Kim) Olson, Pleasanton, Calif., and Raymond Olson, Sacramento, Calif.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hartquist Funeral Home, Engebretson Chapel, Luverne.

A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester.
