MAVIS GRAPEVINE, 87, of Windom, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at LaCanne Family Funeral Home, Windom, and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Windom.

The service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Windom, with the Rev. Susan Birch officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Windom.

Memorials are preferred in her memory to the donor's choice.

OTTO BOS, 96, of Sergeant Bluffs, formerly of Little Rock, Iowa, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Embassy Care Center, Sergeant Bluffs.

The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant View Cemetery, Little Rock, with the Rev. Scott Burdsall officiating.

MARVINE RICKABAUGH, 94, of Okoboji, formerly of Harris, Iowa, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Milford, Iowa, Nursing Center.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Harris.

The service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Harris, with the Rev. Chris Ebbers officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Harris.

ALBERT LEROY EISFELD, 89, of Slayton, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Minnesota Veterans Home, Luverne.

Born June 8, 1917, on a farm near Lake Wilson, he was the son of Carl and Ida Gernnetz Eisfeld. He married Maaikje "Margaret" Van Eck Jan. 20, 1943, at the Eisfeld family farm. She died Jan. 24, 2000.

He grew up on the family farm and attended District 22 country school in Cameron Township, Murray County. He enlisted in the U.S. Army June 6, 1942. After marriage, they lived in Oakland, Calif., for a year. After his discharge in 1943, they returned to Minnesota to begin farming. They farmed near Ruthton for two years, southwest of Balaton for three years and for 10 years north of Lake Wilson. In 1960, they moved to a farm seven miles north of Lake Wilson, where they lived until retiring in 1975 and moving to Slayton. He became a resident of Slayton Manor on Dec. 3, 2003. In August 2006, he moved to Minnesota Veterans Home, Luverne. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Slayton, and a former member of Ellsborough Lutheran Church, Lake Wilson. He held various offices at Ellsborough Lutheran Church, including trustee, deacon and vice president, and he was also a senior high Sunday school teacher. He served as president of the Lake Wilson PTA for a year. He was a member of the Lake Wilson American Legion Post.

Surviving are two daughters, Marjorie (Orvin) Severeid, Ennis, Mont., and Shirley (Joel) Herrmann, High Point, N.C.; one brother, Elwin Eisfeld, Slayton; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Totzke Funeral Home, Slayton, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, Slayton.

The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, Slayton, with the Rev. Ted Kunze officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lake Wilson.

HAROLD EDWARD THOMAS, 88, of Worthington, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Worthington Regional Hospital.

The service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Richard Ricker officiating. A private burial of cremains will be noon Wednesday in Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

ARNOLD BOUMANN SCHNEIDERMANN, 80, of Ulen, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen.

Born March 5, 1927, in Lyon County, Iowa, he was the son of H.J. and Tillie Boumann Schneidermann.

He moved in 1934 with his family to the Ulen area, where he attended country school. As a young boy and into adulthood, he worked on the family farm. He dedicated most of his adult life to raising and milking cows, later raising stock cows and feeders. He also did custom baling and welding over the years for area farmers. He moved in 1996 to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he lived for seven years. He then returned to Ulen and lived on the family farm until entering Viking Manor Nursing Home in September 2005.

Surviving are three brothers, Lorence Schneidermann, Walter (Mary Ann) Schneidermann, and Arthur Schneidermann, all of Ulen; and two sisters, Helen Kruger, Pipestone, and Hilda Schneidermann, Ulen.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. today at Walworth Baptist Church, rural Ulen.

The service will be 2 p.m. today at Walworth Baptist Church, rural Ulen, with the Rev. Ben Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Walworth Baptist Cemetery, rural Ulen.

JEANETTE VERNA SANKEY, 92, of Worthington, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at South Shore Care Center, Worthington.

Born April 13, 1914, in Fenton Township, Murray County, she was the daughter of Leonard and Hattie Van Roekel Vos. She married Marinus Sankey on June 19, 1936, in Chandler. He preceded her in death.

She attended country school near Chandler. After marriage, she raised a family and worked at Campbell Soup Co., Worthington, for many years. They moved in 1961 to California, where she worked at various craft shops. In 1976, they moved back to Worthington, where she continued with her craft studies.

Surviving are seven children, Leon (Ingrid) Sankey, Las Vegas, Nev., Jim (Torch) Sankey, Worthington, Donna Hupe, Torrance, Calif., Duane Sankey, Rodella (Rocky) Roquemore and Bernice Roe, all of Boise, Idaho, and Rod Sankey, Worthington; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Home, Worthington.

The service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Home, Worthington, with the Rev. Mike Zaske officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

ANGELINE VAN ESSEN, 99, of Leota, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Edgebrook Care Center, Edgerton.

Born May 10, 1907, in Salem, S.D., she was the daughter of Asje and Gertrude Van Dyke. She married Corrie Van Essen Jan. 12, 1928, in Leota. He preceded her in death.

After marriage, they farmed in the Leota area for 37 years. They moved to Edgerton, and later to Leota. She became a resident of the Mary Jane Brown Home, Luverne, on Sept. 15, 1995. She moved to Edgebrook Care Center, Edgerton, on Jan. 30, 1996. She was a member of Bethel Reformed Church, Leota.

Surviving are four children, Harvey (Elsie) Van Essen, Seal Beach, Calif., Gladys (Alvin) Blom, Luverne; Jean (Bill) Mouw, Lynden, Wash., and Lloyd (Sharon) Van Essen, Sioux Center, Iowa; one brother, Bill Van Dyke; three sisters, Alice, Margaret and Trudy; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

KLAAS "NICK" KROEKER, 90, of Mountain Lake, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.

Born April 11, 1916, in Jansen, Neb., he was the son of Bernard and Katharena Friesen Kroeker. He married Esther Friesen June 12, 1941, at Carson Mennonite Brethren Church, near Delft.

He was raised in Jansen and left to attend Moody Bible Institute in 1940. He then went to St. Paul Bible Institute (now Crown College), where he graduated in 1943. He served his first Pastorate at Stickney, S.D., from 1943-1945. In 1946, they left for French West Africa (now Mali) as missionaries. They planted churches, opened mission stations and learned languages. In 1985, they retired to Mountain Lake. He served with the Lao Christian Fellowship, Awana, Parkwood, Eventide Nursing Home, Good Samaritan Village and the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church. They were members of Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade, Kan., and were currently attending Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church, Mountain Lake.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Sharon (Clinton) Hauber, Camp Bell, N.Y., and Mary (Gary) Classen, Mountain Lake; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bjerum Funeral Home, Mountain Lake.

FLORENCE BRUMMER, 89, of Jeffers, formerly of Storden, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Westbrook Good Samaritan Center.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at LaCanne Family Funeral Home, Jeffers, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Jeffers.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Jeffers, with the Rev. Clinton Firstbrook III officiating. Burial will be in Jeffers Cemetery.

NELLIE DORETTA KETEL, 83, of Springfield, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Mercy Villa, Springfield.

Born Feb. 25, 1924, in northern Minnesota, she was the daughter of Henry J. and Jenny Vander Wal Brouwer. She married Francis L. Ketel Jan. 22, 1942, on the Ketel farm near Bigelow. He died in 2002.

After marriage, they farmed near Bigelow. In 1962, they moved to Missouri and continued to farm until purchasing the Oak Rest Motel in 1966. They owned and operated the motel until retirement in 1993. She was involved at Asbury Methodist Church, Springfield, and volunteered at Mercy Villa.

Surviving are five children, Robert (Nellie) Ketel, Caroline Boger, Rex (Beverly) Ketel, Dale Ketel, and Lyle (Martha) Ketel; one sister, Alice Hoekstra, Sibley, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The service will be 2 p.m. today at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield.
