SUE GASCA, 42, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Worthington, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha, Neb.

CORNELIUS "STUB" ELBERS, 76, of Steen, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at his home in Steen.

Born Sept. 21, 1930, in Steen, he was the son of John and Helen Hoff Elbers. He was married in 1961 in Rock Rapids.

He grew up in Steen and attended Steen Public School, graduating from Hills Public School in 1949. He then worked at A.R. Woods in Luverne before serving his country in the U.S. Army for two years in Korea. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to Steen and started working at the Hills Creamery. He later took over his father's corn shelling business. Later in life, he ran a maintainer for Rock County in Clinton Township, retiring in 1998. He was a lifetime member of the Steen Reformed Church and the American Legion.

Surviving are two brothers, James (Larona) Elbers, Steen, and Marvin (Jean) Elbers, Brandon, S.D.; and five sisters, Grace Van Maanan, Rock Valley, Iowa, Arlene (Jim) Church, Chanhassen, Helen Doreen (Larry) Schuck, Sibley, Iowa, Carol (Marion) Van Bemmel, Steen, and Beverly (Gary) Siebring, George, Iowa.

The service will be 11 a.m. today at The Reformed Church of Steen, with the Rev. Dan Ramaker officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at 10 a.m. today in Eastside Cemetery, Steen.

LAVON MAXINE SIEWERT, 78, of Slayton, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Our House Hospice Home, Slayton.

Born Sept. 14, 1928, in Lake Benton, she was the daughter of the Rev. Ray and Ethel Baxter Galer. She married Alva Siewert March 17, 1951, in Windom. He died May 6, 1982.

She graduated from Windom High School in 1946. Following marriage, the couple farmed in Cottonwood County until 1961, when they moved to Fulda. In 1967, they moved to Hadley. She worked as a nurse's aid at Slayton Manor for many years. She remained in Hadley until 1998, when she moved to Slayton. She was a member of Hadley Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid. She also was a member of the Hadley Lioness Club and the Golden Club. She volunteered at the Slayton Senior Center.

Surviving are four children, Kay (Gary) Ridinger, Conyers, Ga., Kim (Pat) Siewert, Seymour, Texas, Judy Siewert, Chesterfield, Va., and Drew (Marlee) Siewert, Jamestown, N.D.; one sister, Betty Smetana, Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Totzke Funeral Home, Slayton, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hadley Lutheran Church, Hadley.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hadley Lutheran Church, Hadley, with the Rev. Kerry Boese officiating. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Hadley.

LEONE ANTONIA RUPP, 97, of Windom, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society, Windom.

Born April 16, 1909, in Weimer Township, Jackson County, she was the daughter of Stephen and Julia Hrdina Rehnelt. She married John Kenneth Rupp July 27, 1935, in Windom. He died Jan. 22, 1970.

She received her education in rural schools in Jackson County and parochial school in Heron Lake. After marriage, they made their home in Windom. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Windom.

Surviving are two sons, John Richard (Rebecca) Rupp, Maple Grove, and Gary Allan Rupp, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; one brother, Leonard (Lavonne) Rehnelt, Austin; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Windom.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with the Rev. Andrew Olsem officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Windom.

Memorials are preferred to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
