Obituary: Edwin Arends

Edwin Arends, the son of Ralph and Lillian Anderson, was born on October 21, 1935 in Luverne, MN. He grew up on the farm near Luverne and attended school in Luverne and graduated from the Luverne High School. After high school Ed served in the US...

Edwin Arends, the son of Ralph and Lillian Anderson, was born on October 21, 1935 in Luverne, MN. He grew up on the farm near Luverne and attended school in Luverne and graduated from the Luverne High School. After high school Ed served in the US Army. He moved to Sioux Falls, SD after his discharge. Ed later moved to the Fulda and Dundee areas. He owned operated Ed's Repair Shop in Fulda where he gained a reputation for his welding abilities. He moved to his home between Dundee and Kinbrae in 1979. Ed passed away at his home on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the age of 72. He enjoyed racing, which he did when he was younger, demolition derbies, gardening and cooking.

Survivors include his seven children and their spouses, Warren (Jan) Arends of Rock Rapids, IA, Susan (Brad) Thorson of Harmony, MN, Loren (Cheryl) Arends of New Lisbon, WI, Christopher (Kim) Arens of Dundee, MN, Robert Arends, Denise Thompson of Windom, MN and Allen (Becky) Arends of Bingham Lake, MN; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one brother, Stan Arends of Luverne, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Steve Arends.
