Ernest Dittman was born on August 6, 1930 in Elk Township, Nobles County, Minnesota to Fred and Sophie Vehlow Dittman.
The family later moved to a farm in Hersey, Twp. Nobles County, MN for a short time. In 1936 the family moved to a farm in Belfast Township Murray County, MN. Ernest attended country school District # 32. Following school Ernest farmed with his parents and brothers. On Auust 29, 1954 he and Carol Johnson were married at the First Lutheran Church in Dundee, MN. Following their marriage they farmed near Dundee. They retired in 1992 but continued to living on the farm. Carol passed away on November 12, 2004. Ernest remained on the farm until January 2008 when became a resident of the Sanford Adrian Care Center in Adrian and passed away
there on July 27, 2008 at the age of 77. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dundee.
Survivors include his two daughters and their spouses, Lana and Kurt Grimmius of Worthington, MN, and Lori and William Samp of Eden Prairie, MN, three grandsons, Nathan Grimmius, Ryan Grimmius, and Taylor Samp,
four brothers, Harold Dittman and his wife, Joyce of Pennock, MN,
