Galen "Polly" Parrott was born on July 15, 1915 in Aurelia, Iowa, to Pierce F. and Iva L. Neville Parrott. In 1922 the family moved to Slayton, MN where Polly graduated from Slayton High School in 1933. On October 20, 1939 he and Rosella Smestad were married in Lake Wilson, MN.
Following their marriage they made their home in Lake Wilson. On December 3, 1943 Polly enlisted in the United States Army and served in France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Rhineland and Germany. Following his honorable discharge on December 10, 1945,
Polly returned to Lake Wilson and operated Polly's Phillips 66 Gas Station and drove bulk truck. Polly retired in 1976. In 1999 they moved to Westside Apartments in Slayton. In August 2006 they moved to the Golden Living Center-Slayton and later moved to Oak Terrace Health Care
Center in Gaylord, MN. Polly passed away on April 8, 2008 at the Oak Terrace Health Care Center at the age of 92. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake Wilson, MN. Polly also was a member of the Lake Wilson American Legion Post, the Masonic Lodge, El Riad Shrine where he served as president for two years. Polly also served on the Lake Wilson City Council. Galen enjoyed bowling, softball, golf, playing cards, umpiring ballgames, gardening and fishing for bullheads.
Survivors include his wife, Rosella Parrott of Gaylord, MN, three children, Bruce Parrott and his wife, Judy of Slayton, MN, Doug Parrott and his wife, Iris of Gaylord, MN, and Lynn Parrott of Crystal, MN, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his

parents, infant daughter, Patricia, infant brother, Phillip, infant sister, Phyllis, and one brother, Donald Parrott.
The service will be at United Methodist Church in Lake Wilson, MN on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. The organist is Julie Brossard with special music by Leslie Brinkman. The pallbearers are Dean Parrott, Dave Schreier, Eric Parrott, Bryan Parrott, Gregory Parrott, Justin Parrott, and Joshua Parrott. Interment is at Hillside Cemetery, Lake Wilson, MN. Military honor accorded by the Lake Wilson American Legion Post.
