Obituary: Nathan Jay Wynia

Nathan Jay Wynia, age 26, of Sioux Falls, SD; formerly of Luverne, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 near Wolsey, SD. He was born September 3, 1981 in Luverne to parents, Steve and Lora Lynn (Schoep) Wynia. He graduated from Luverne High School in 2000.

Nathan Jay Wynia, age 26, of Sioux Falls, SD; formerly of Luverne, died

Saturday, March 22, 2008 near Wolsey, SD. He was born September 3, 1981 in Luverne to parents, Steve and Lora Lynn (Schoep) Wynia. He graduated from Luverne High School in 2000. After graduation he worked for Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home.

Nathan joined the Luverne National Guard 1-125 Field Artillery A Battery in Luverne on July 29, 2002. He served on active duty in England from August 10, 2003 until March 2, 2004 in support of Enduring Freedom. After returning from England he attended Bemidji State College for one year. In March of 2006 he started working as a correctional officer for the South Dakota State Penitentiary.

He was a baptized member of the American Reformed Church in Luverne and was currently serving the Luverne/Pipestone National Guard.

Nathan loved spending time with his friends and family. He also loved a

good game of poker and camping with friends. He played hockey in high

school and also belonged to the fellowship of Christian Athlete's.

Nathan is survived by his parents, Steve and Lora Lynn Wynia, Luverne; sisters, Krista Wynia, Armonk, NY and Sarah Wynia, Sioux Falls;

paternal grandmother, Ellen Wynia, Edgerton; maternal grandfather, John (Maria) Schoep, Pipestone; aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lucille Schoep; paternal grandfather, Earl Wynia and Sarah's fiance Kyle Rowen.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne with the family present from 6 to 8 pm. Visitation will also be Friday from 10 to 11 am at the American Reformed Church in Luverne.

The service will be Friday at 11 am at the American Reformed Church in Luverne with Rev. David Sikkema officiating. Burial will be at

Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne with full military honors.
