Obituary: Oren Larison

Oren L. "Larry" Larison, age 74, of Worthington, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Worthington, following a brief illness at St. Mary Hospital, in Rochester. He was born July 7, 1933, in Taylor County, IA, to Loyd and Opal (Gartside) Larison.

Oren L. "Larry" Larison, age 74, of Worthington, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Worthington, following a brief illness at St. Mary Hospital, in Rochester. He was born July 7, 1933, in Taylor County, IA, to Loyd and Opal (Gartside) Larison. Larry graduated from Sheridan High School, in Sheridan, MO; and attended the University of Missouri, Columbia. He entered the United States Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict.

Oren married Joy Holtan on August 9, 1959, in Washburn, ND. After their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee, WI; Cedar Fall, IA; Waterloo, IA; and Dubuque, IA. In 1970, they moved to Worthington, where Larry worked as a District Sales Consultant for twenty- nine years at Asgrow Seed Co. (Subsidiary of UpJohn) which later became Pfizer. He retired in January of 1994. The couple enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, FL.

He was a member of the American Lutheran Church, in Worthington; a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge; and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Larry enjoyed golf, basketball & NASCAR. He also enjoyed outdoor activities including camping, fishing & boating.

Larry is survived by his wife, Joy Larison, Worthington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karey & Marty Terselic, Oglesby, IL; Brenda & David Baerenwald, Brewster; and Sandra & Bill Bock, Duluth; six grandchildren, Derek Lloyd & Zoe Braerenwald; Kasey Terselic; Kristina Joy, Justin & Emily Bock; two brothers, Gary (Jo) Larison, Bradenton, FL; and Terry (Janet) Larison, Sheridan, MO; two nephews, Brett Larison, Bradenton, FL; and Clint (Jill) Larison, Sheridan, MO; niece, Teri-Leigh Larison, Sheridan, MO; and a great niece, Alison Larison.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington. Funeral will be 1 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Rev. Mike Zaske. Burial will be at a later date at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery, in Bismarck, ND.
