Obituary: Rena Grace Koehn

Rena Grace Koehn, 88, Wadena, died Saturday at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Wadena, MN. She was born August 1, 1919 in Sibley, IA to Henry and Jessie (Ebbenga) Bruns.

Rena Grace Koehn, 88, Wadena, died Saturday at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Wadena, MN. She was born August 1, 1919 in Sibley, IA to Henry and Jessie (Ebbenga) Bruns.

She moved with her family to Avoca, MN and later to Fulda, MN attending various rural schools. She married Elmer Koehn on September 15, 1941. In February of 1942, Elmer went into military services, while away she worked at the Fulda Hotel and the Fulda Bakery. In 1958 they moved to Jeffers, MN. Elmer died March 13, 1969. In 2004 she moved to Wadena, MN.

She attended Bluegrass Bethany Free Lutheran Church in Wadena and was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sang in the

choir, and took part in E.L.C.W she was also a member of the Senior Citizen Club and Westside Club. She enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren, going to the cabin, and fishing.

She is survived by two children, Eunice (James) Mell of Wadena and Steve (Vicky) Koehn of Red Wing; five granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; 6 siblings; and many nieces and neph-

ews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; son, James Koehn; and 6 siblings.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, MN with Reverend Mark Swanson and Reverend Stephen Papillon presiding. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens

in Slayton. Pallbearers will be Ray Cochran, Jay Fitzsimmons, Jay Strommen, Ed Charpentier, Roger and Gregg Wildfeuer. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Lisa Cochran,

Deborah Fitzsimmons, Amy Strommen, Rebecca Mell, and Candace

Koehn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is

handling the arrangements.
