Richard Johnson the son of Carl and Blanche Thompson Johnson was born October 15, 1920 on the family farm near Dundee, MN. He grew up the farm and attended school in Dundee. He was united in marriage to Ottilia "Tille" Voit on June 12, 1951 at Heron Lake, MN. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Dundee for three years. In 1953 they moved into Dundee while he continued farming until his retirement in 1998. Richard remained in Dundee after Tille passed away on December 7, 1997. He moved to Maplewood Court in Fulda in May of 2005 and to the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in March of 2007. Richard passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 87. Richard was member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda, MN and was a past member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dundee. He was a past member of the Dundee City Council where he served for 11 years. Richard loved to travel with his wife.
Survivors include his two daughters, Charlene Kelly of Sioux Falls, SD and Sharon Ellens and her husband, Dale of Wentworth, SD; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Curtis "Tootie" Johnson.
Funeral Services St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Fulda, MN at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2008 with Fr. Bob Horihan officiating. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dundee, MN.
