Ruth Tims, 83, of Slayton, formerly of Worthington, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN.
Ruth Lanette (Jorgensen) Tims was born January 14, 1925, in Kimballton, IA. She was the 4th of 7 children born to Albert & Margaret (Johansen) Jorgensen. She graduated from Tyler High School. Ruth attended Business College for one year and then worked in the insurance business before returning home to help on the farm. She was united in marriage to Henry Hugo Tims on September 17, 1945, at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler, MN.
Faith and family were at the center of Ruth's life. She was a longtime member of Worthington Solid Rock Assembly, where she taught Sunday school and was active with the Women's Missionary ladies group. She was a gifted musician and taught piano privately for many years. Her other interests included love of gardening and sewing. Ruth's signature gift was crocheted Christmas balls. She also volunteered at the Worthington hospital.
Surviving are her husband, Henry Tims, Slayton; nine children, James Bueling, Kiev, Ukraine, Charles (Judy) Tims, Fargo, ND, Richard (Glenda) Tims, Cottage Grove, Alan (Elna) Tims, St. Cloud, Kenneth (Cathy) Tims, Gulfport, MS, Margaret (David) Klaassen, Marquette, KS, Nancy (Hugh) Magill, Winnetka, IL, James (Lea) Tims, Incerlik, Turkey, Robert (Donna) Tims, Worthington; one brother, Frank (Betty) Jorgensen, Tyler, one sister, Helen (John) Call, Huntsville, AL, one sister-in-law, Naomi Jorgensen, Brownsville, TX; 39 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and two more expected.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Genevieve Hicks, Geraldine Rea, and Patricia Giles, and one brother, Albert Jorgensen, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the Solid Rock Assembly Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Scott Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Lake Wilson Cemetery, Lake Wilson, MN.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2008, from 4:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and on Monday, March 24, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Solid Rock Assembly Church in Worthington.
