OKOBOJI, Iowa - Want to see more folks dive into freezing water?

One week after Worthington’s Deep Freeze Dip, a Polar Plunge event will be one of the many activities scheduled for the annual Okoboji Winter Games. A full slate of events begins Thursday, and the 36th annual festivities will continue through Sunday.
From the Polar Plunge (3 p.m. Saturday) to chess tournaments, there are a flurry of events for outdoor and indoor lovers alike. New events this year include the Mega Snow Pong and the Swimsuits and Snow Boots competition.
Registration is available for the kickball, softball and Mega Snow Ball events until Thursday. For more information, registration forms and a full list of events, visit www.uofowintergames.com .

The following is a partial schedule of events:

Friday
Boats, Bikes and Snowmobiles at Parks Marina
8 a.m. to midnight: Indoor Golf Tournament, Spirit Lake
9 p.m.: Swimsuits and Snow Boots Competition, The Okoboji Store.

Saturday
7:30 to 8 a.m.: Hot air balloon rides at Arnolds Park
8 a.m.: Double Elimination Kickball Tournament at Arnolds Park, Broomball at Smith’s Bay, flag football at East Lake Okoboji; Snowball Softball Tournament at Arnolds Park
8:30 a.m.: Cribbage Tournament at Pebble Beach Room, Arrowwood Resort
8:45 a.m.: Chess Tournament at City Hall, Arnolds Park
9 a.m.: 500 & Pinochle Tournaments, Senior Center near Spirit Lake
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Mega Snow Pong, The Okoboji Store
10 a.m.: Snowball Drop, Lake & Hill Avenue Corner, Spirit Lake
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Parks Marina Kids Ice Games at East Lake Okoboji
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Metro Ice Sculptures at Parks Marina; Noon: Ping Pong Tournament at Camp Okoboji, Wahpeton near Crescent Beach
1 p.m.: Two-person Bean Bag Toss Tournament, snow volleyball at Arnolds Park, human dog sled races at Parks Marina
3 p.m.: Frozen Fanny Fat Bike Challenge at Dickinson County Nature Center and Polar Plunge
6:30 p.m. Fireworks extravaganza and Burning of the Greens at Arnolds Park

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Ice Snow and helicopter rides at Parks Marina
10 a.m.: Dickinson County Snowhawks Radar Run at Parks Marina
