Thiner

Name: Dave Thiner

Occupation: owner/electrician, Thiner Electric

What prompted you to run for county commissioner?: I served on the Fulda City Council for 20 years and miss the opportunity to serve the community and voice my views and opinions. I have the time and the interest in county government and want to ensure that Fulda and Bondin Township are well represented.

Do you have experience in leadership or local government? I have been in the construction trade for 35 years, and I am a small business owner. I was a charter member of the Fulda Ambulance Service where I served for 22 years and also filled the position of director. I was a Fulda City Council member for 20 years and also served as acting mayor. I am a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and I'm currently serving on the finance council there. I'm an active member of the Fulda Fish and Game Club. I was a Fulda Jaycee member and a leader in Boy Scouts.

What do you think is the most important issue in your county? Creating not only jobs, but good-paying jobs, is important in our county, so we can attract and retain people in the county and give college graduates a reason to stay in the county and raise a family. If we can attract more people to the area through jobs and development, we create more revenue for the area and everyone benefits.

Did the recent redistricting influence your decision to run? The redistricting did not influence my decision to run, but I can understand the concerns of residents who had no choice in their new representation.
