Remund

Name: Jerry L. Remund

Occupation: County Commissioner (8th Year); Licensed-Certified General Real Property Appraiser, Licensed-Real Estate Broker, Licensed-Life and Property Insurance Agent and Licensed-Private Pilot.

What prompted you to run for county commissioner? I have been involved with a number of committees and organizations in the City and County of Pipestone for 44 years as Chairman or adviser of various Boards.

Do you have experience in leadership or local government? I was elected President (2 years) of the Pipestone Chamber of Commerce and two additional years as board member, four years on the former Pipestone Area Vocational School Advisory Board, two years on the City Planning & Zoning Commission, four years on the Church Youth Advisory Board, five years on the United Fund Board, six years on the Citizen Scholarship Board, 11 years as a Church trustee, 15 years on the Pipestone City and County Economic Development Board, 16 years as a bail bondsman (appointed by the 5th & 9th District Court), 30 years on the Hiawatha Club (one year President), 38 years as guardian for a number of county residence (appointed by the Court), 41 Years as an American Legion member (one year Commander). As a Commissioner I am appointed to 18 boards which meet either monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annually.

I was a Bank Loan Officer for fourteen years, owned my own business (Insurance, Real Estate, Appraisal and Travel Agency under the blanket name of Star Agency for sixteen years.

What do you think is the most important issue in your county? The most important issue in Pipestone County is to represent all residence in the City and County and retain a strong financial reserve while maintaining our parks, streets, roads and buildings. There are times when people do not agree with my decisions but I vote for what I believe is in the best interest for all people in the City and County.

Did the recent redistricting influence your decision to run? I am on the eighth year as a County Commissioner (Three years as Chairman of the Board) and the redistricting did not influence my decision to re-run for Fifth District County Commissioner.

I would appreciate your vote to represent the Fifth District County Commissioner in the Primary and General Election.
