Name: Ken Fast

Occupation: Ag-Business Sales and Management

What prompted you to run for county commissioner? I have been thinking about running for County Commissioner for some time. When the current Commissioner chose not to seek re-election, I decided now is the time.

Do you have experience in leadership or local government? I feel that my 20 plus years helping build a successful Ag Business will be a big asset in making decisions for the County. I have experience as board chair and served on the council for church. I served as chairman for several terms with the Windom Area Chordhustlers, a Barbershop Chorus. I also served on the Windom Youth Hockey Board and was a youth coach. My kids and grandkids live in Cottonwood County and I want to help my county be as good or better than it is now.

I am a good listener, do research, and pay close attention to details. I believe in service, service to the residents, the employees, and the entities we would work with.

What do you think is the most important issue in your county? I believe an important issue would be the budget. I would explore avenues to increase revenues through grants, expanding current revenue sources with economic development, wind energy, agricultural related business development, and work hard to get more county aid from the State. I feel it is important to maintain and improve our services, our equipment, our roads, and properties. I do not want the burden to fall on the taxpayers.
