LARCHWOOD, Iowa -- A Sioux Falls, S.D., man was pronounced dead at the scene of an airplane crash Wednesday afternoon near Larchwood.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about the crash at 1:10 p.m. A single-seat airplane had attempted to land at the Zangger Airport, located at 1351 Airport Road N., Larchwood.
The pilot was the only person reported in the aircraft. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
The Federal Aviation Administration was expected to be on site today to conduct an investigation of the crash. No further information was available Wednesday evening.
