Pipestone County Fair begins today with shows

PIPESTONE -- The Pipestone County Fair begins today, with plenty of fun and entertainment for all ages.

Midwest Rides will be on the midway with a variety of rides for all three days.

Monday's activities include 4-H and FFA Swine Shows beginning at 8 a.m. and the Open Class/FFA Horse Show at 8:30 a.m., with the 4-H Horse show to follow. The 4-H building exhibits judging for garden, agronomy and foods begins at 10 a.m. and continues through 2 p.m.

Monday night in the grandstand, the Enduro Race, operated by the Jasper Lions Club and sponsored by Sioux Valley Energy, starts at 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, the 4-H and FFA Shows Dairy Shows begin at 8 a.m. The FFA and 4-H Sheep Show begins at 2 p.m., and the 4-H Rabbit Show at 6:00 p.m. There will also be an Open Class Draft Horse Show at 1:00 p.m. in the horse arena.

Also on Tuesday, the Zoo Man will put on a show at noon in the 4-H Quonset building on the fairgrounds, sponsored by the Pipestone American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary.

Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the grandstand is the demolition derby.

Wednesday will feature the 4-H and FFA Beef Show at 8 a.m., along with the cow/calf 4-H and FFA Show. The 4-H Parade of Champions begins at 3 p.m.

The Ribbon Auction is at 4 p.m., 4-H Cat Show at 6 p.m., 4-H Pet Show at 6:30 p.m. and the Open Class Pet Show at 7 p.m. Exhibits will be released at 9 p.m.

Wednesday night will be the N.T.P.A. Truck and Tractor Pull starting at 7 p.m. in the grandstand.

Each evening there will be plenty of food. Monday night is Dar's Pizza Night at the north 4-H stand. Tuesday is the Pipestone Cattlemen's Association Annual Beef Feed from 5-7 p.m., and Wednesday is the Pipestone County Pork Producers Supreme Pork Chop Dinner from 5-7 p.m.
