The man dubbed as the "plaid shirt robber" and suspected of robbing the Wells Fargo bank in Mitchell last year has been indicted by a federal grand jury.
Joseph Paul Young, 37, of Missouri has been indicted in federal court on three counts of bank robbery, according to court documents filed Oct. 7.
Along with the Wells Fargo bank in Mitchell, Young has been indicted for robbing the Valley Bank on Aug. 13, 2007, and the First National Bank on Sept. 26, 2007, in Sioux Falls.
Young was taken into custody last month, just a little more than a year after the Wells Fargo Bank in Mitchell was robbed.
It was suspected that Young was responsible for the 2007 Mitchell robbery at the time of his arrest in Missouri. Officials could not confirm those suspicions.

"We do not provide names of suspects unless they are officially charged," said Steve Pluta, a supervisory senior resident agent with the FBI's Sioux Falls office in a recent Daily Republic interview.
On Aug. 14, 2007, just before noon, a man described as "very low key" walked into the local bank at 403 N. Lawler and demanded money. Although he did not show a weapon, he indicated that he had one, according to reports at the time.
He wore jeans, a plaid shirt and a baseball cap. Earlier that week, a man fitting that description robbed a bank in Sioux Falls.
Surveillance cameras captured images of the robber and his car, but police were not able to locate the suspect.
In August, Young was arrested in Missouri and is suspected in 20 bank robberies in 12 different states. A court date has not yet been scheduled for Young.
