RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Police ticketed a 24-year-old UW-River Falls female student for battery because she allegedly punched and then kicked in the stomach another young woman, also a UW-RF student. The beating took place after 2 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Main Street and Cascade Avenue.
The disturbance started soon after the alleged victim asked the 24-year-old's male friend to stop smoking. She made the request because she knew someone who had died from secondhand smoke.
The male friend allegedly reacted to this request by calling the young woman several vulgar names. Soon after the 24-year-old got involved and attacked the young woman.
She was arrested, taken to the police station and given a $366 fine.
