JACKSON -- The upcoming weekend will be busy in Jackson, as three separate events are planned.
Scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday is the annual Fort Belmont Rendezvous, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days on the Fort Belmont grounds.
Demonstrations of 1840s-era encampment activities will be a significant part of the event, and activities including blacksmithing, butter-churning and lefse-making are also planned. Shooting and tomahawk-throwing competitions are scheduled, as well as kids' and ladies' games -- among them being the frying pan throw, moccasin toss and clothes-hanging competition.
Food will be available inside the museum at Fort Belmont, and all the buildings at the facility will be open.
Also on tap for Saturday in Jackson is the 10th annual Prairie Winds Kite Fly, which will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jackson Municipal Airport. Kites nearing 100 feet in length are expected to be in the air, thanks to kite-flyers who take part in shows across the Midwest, and anyone interested in coming to the free event and flying a kite may do so as well.

The Prairie Ecology Bus will host wind-related activities for children, including kite creation and decoration. A scavenger hunt is also planned, and there will be door prizes and live music.
On Sunday, the Jackson Lions Fly-in Breakfast will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Jackson Municipal Airport. Pancakes, eggs and sausage will be served inside the new hangar at the airport, and the Jackson Flight Associates Club will be offering airplane rides.
The new hangar will be available for tours during the breakfast, and a twin-engine turbo prop aircraft is likely to be on display.
