JACKSON — A power outage occurred Wednesday evening in ITC’s Heron Lake substation along Minnesota 60. A total of 611 Federated members — who were formerly Alliant customers — in Heron Lake, Okabena, Dundee and Kinbrae lost power around midnight until about 2:30 a.m.
Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight until about 10 p.m., ITC will replace the fuse assembly so the whole substation will be off.
“Federated members do not need to call and report this outage tonight, as we know about it,” said George Madden, Federated’s operations manager, in a press release. “Please plan your schedules accordingly for ITC’s planned outage. Federated will add underground line to backfeed this substation this year, so these extended outages will not occur in the future.
This outage does not affect Federated’s rural members who were customers before 2015.
