GRAND FORKS - A rabbit got mixed up somehow with some underground equipment belonging to Xcel Energy on Thanksgiving Day and caused an outage that affected about 170 Grand Forks customers, a spokeswoman said.

The power was out at 32nd Avenue South and Columbia Road from just before 2 p.m. until 3:20 p.m., Xcel's Bonnie Lund said.

The area is predominantly commercial, but there are some apartments. Lund couldn't say how many residences might have lost power, though.

Lund said she didn't know what happened to the rabbit or how it caused the outage.
