SANBORN — Ryan Klenken, 37, of Reading, died Thursday as a result of a fatal crash near Germantown Township, Cottonwood County.
Klenken was driving a 2005 Chevy Silverado northbound on U.S. 71 when he came upon two vehicles stopped in the roadway: a 2008 Chevy Silverado driven by Jeffery Shaner, 64, of Sanborn, and a 2015 International dump truck driven by Greg Boettger, 56, of Springfield. Klenken rear-ended the dump truck, which subsequently rear-ended the 2008 Silverado. All drivers were wearing seat belts and were sober.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene and were assisted by the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office, Sanborn Fire/EMS, Jeffers Fire/EMS, Westbrook Police Department and Windom Police Department.
Klenken died as a result of the crash. Shaner and Boettger were transported to Windom Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
