SLAYTON -- Eight teams participated in this year's Nobles Cooperative Electric's Rib Cook-Off on Saturday night at the Murray County Fair.
Team Lorin blew the competition away by raising $1,700 by the end of the night, with some of the teams donating their money to it as well. When the voting was settled, Team Lorin received the most votes, an extra $150 prize and a trophy.
Best ribs votes went to: 1. Team Lorin; 2. Slayton Fire Department; 3. Junipers Bar and Grill.
Proceeds from the event went directly to the community. Nobles Cooperative Electric donated the funds raised to the Murray County Fair Board for continual fairground improvements.
