WORTHINGTON - The king and queen of Worthington High School have been crowned.
Tony Lopez and Patricia Marin will represent WHS during the 2015 homecoming week. The royal couple was announced during Monday afternoon’s coronation in the high school gym.
Joining Lopez and Marin in the homecoming court are Allie Bruns, Arleny Campillo, Emma Gerber, Morgan LeBrun, Olivia Petersen, Tom Hanselmann, Cameron Jenson, Erik Landgaard, Christopher Mayorga and Torey Rogers.
Junior class attendants are Ahmitara Alwal and David Santos. Sophomore attendants are Jessica Darling and Kevin Gutierrez. Freshman attendants are Jacee Turner and Anthony Euceda.
This year’s theme is “Hall of Fame.” To qualify as a homecoming candidate or attendant, the student must be active in a school sport or school activity.
Kerry Johnson, one of the co-chair advisors for student council, said there are lot of events prepared for the week, and she hopes students will have fun participating.
“We hope kids will be competitive during the dress-up days,” Johnson said. “We will be giving away gift cards to the kids who go above and beyond.”
The homecoming week schedule of activities is as follows:
Today: Girls’ Soccer vs. Fairmont, 6:45 p.m.; Thursday: Girls’ Tennis vs. St. James Area, 4:30 p.m.; Volleyball vs. Redwood Valley, 7:15 p.m.; Friday: Pep Fest, 1:20 p.m., Girls’ Tennis vs. MACCRAY, 4 p.m.; Football vs. Fairmont, 7 p.m., Homecoming Dance after the football game.
Dress up days: Today: Around the World; Wednesday: Country Western Day; Thursday: Class Color Day; Friday: School Spirit Day.
