King Turkey Day is always a great celebration each year, and folks come from all over to enjoy all kinds of fun. From all kinds of games and activities for the little gobblers to socializing in the beer garden for the older toms and hens, you can count on a full flock both downtown and at the Nobles County Fairgrounds.
This turk, for one, would like to thank the good people at the Worthington Police Department and Nobles County Sheriff’s Office for doing their part to keep this party a safe one. Both law enforcement agencies will be providing “Safe Cab” taxi service from 10 p.m. Saturday night until 2 a.m. Businesses, through the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, have been able to pledge tickets for rides home. Safe Cab rides - with local law enforcement and taxi drivers alike doing the driving - will be free to the rider only if they are going home. There will be a charge for riders who wish to get dropped off at a bar or restaurant. Thanks again to all who are giving their time and resources to keep King Turkey Day safe!
Turkey Day Flower Show. There will be no need for Safe Cab rides, of course, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, when the annual Turkey Day Flower Show takes place at Wells Fargo Bank. Sponsored by the Worthington Garden Club, the show is open to any exhibitor. A prize will be awarded to a non-garden member.
All specimens, arrangements or potted plants should be at the bank by 4 p.m. Thursday and picked up at 4 p.m. Friday.
