PRIMGHAR, Iowa -- After more than two months of investigation, a Sanborn, Iowa, man has been arrested by the O'Brien County Sheriff's Office on multiple counts of third-degree burglary.
The arrest of Marlyn Dale VanTol, 48, stems from numerous complaints from O'Brien County residents who reported various amounts of cash taken from their residences. In each of the burglaries, the victims' homes were not locked.
VanTol was booked into the O'Brien County Jail Tuesday and appeared in court on four counts of third-degree burglary to residences, all felonies, and one count of third-degree burglary of a vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor. Bond was set at $48,750.
Each felony count carries a maximum penalty of five years incarceration and/or a $7,500 fine.
The O'Brien County Sheriff's Office encourages residents to practice good crime prevention by routinely locking their doors when they are away from their residences.
