WORTHINGTON -- The District 518 Board of Education certified the maximum proposed 2010 levy payable in 2011 at its meeting Tuesday.
Board members unanimously approved a $4.77 million levy limit, which represents a roughly 2 percent increase from last year.
"Generally we recommend approval of the maximum levy because it allows for changes between now and December," explained Dave Skog, the district's director of management services.
The board will approve the final levy amount in December.
l Approved the retirement request of Renee McCuen as first-grade teacher at Prairie Elementary School; and the resignation of Lori Vetsch as paraprofessional at Prairie, of Julie Steinle as paraprofessional at Prairie, and of Joe Landwehr as Junior Class Advisor at Worthington High School.

* Approved an Interagency Contract with SMOC Head Start from Aug. 15 through June 30, 2011.
* Set the time for the Truth in Taxation Hearing for 6 p.m. Dec. 21; the regular school board meeting will follow the hearing.
* Approved a contract settlement with administrators for 2010-2012. Salary and benefit increase is 2.61 percent for 2010-2011 and 1.98 percent for 2011-2012.
