PIPESTONE — Pipestone National Monument is working with the Minnesota Audubon Society and Minnesota Ornithologists’ Union to conduct a Christmas Bird Count in Pipestone County on the morning of Jan. 4.

People who are seasoned birders, have always been curious about it or just looking for a new hobby to try are all welcome. Starting time is 7 a.m. in Pipestone National Monument’s Visitor Center, where attendees will receive maps and instructions over complimentary coffee and donuts. From there, participants will break into groups (carpooling is encouraged) and head out to start counting.

At noon, everyone will meet at Pizza Ranch in downtown Pipestone to eat lunch (participants must buy their own) and go over the data that’s been collected.
