JACKSON -- Sentencing of a 91-year-old Okabena man who pleaded guilty in April to sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl was postponed Monday in Jackson County District Court.
The sentencing is now scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jackson County Attorney Robert O'Connor said.
As part of his guilty plea agreement, Arnold Fred Hussong would be required to serve a 90-month sentence. Two-thirds of the 90 months would be in prison, the last third on supervised release.
The agreement also calls for 10 years of supervised release after the incarceration is complete.
Hussong pleaded guilty in April to molesting a girl who had visited his home in summer 2009. According to the criminal complaint, authorities in Jackson County were contacted Aug. 9, 2009, about a possible sexual assault that had been reported in Okabena. The girl's mother said a neighbor had brought her "very upset" daughter home a short time before. The girl told her mother Hussong had pulled her by the hair, tied her up on his bed and touched her inappropriately. She said Hussong also threatened to kill her with a gun if she told anyone.

O'Connor said Monday that sentencing was being delayed in order to prepare the prison to which Hussong would be sent under his sentence for Hussong's care needs. If the sentence is fulfilled as expected, Hussong will be almost 96 years old when he gets out of prison.
Since the current place of Hussong's residence wouldn't permit a convicted sex offender to live there, O'Connor added, he wouldn't be able to return there after a Monday sentencing. Hussong has resided in an nursing home since his plea.
