SFL edges Adrian boys

LUVERNE -- Tracy-Milroy-Balaton's Ryan Tholen won the boys' race Thursday afternoon, and Pipestone Area's Amanda Schoonhoven captured the girls' individual title at the Luverne Invitational cross country meet.

LUVERNE -- Tracy-Milroy-Balaton's Ryan Tholen won the boys' race Thursday afternoon, and Pipestone Area's Amanda Schoonhoven captured the girls' individual title at the Luverne Invitational cross country meet.

Sioux Falls Lincoln won both the boys' and girls' team titles, scoring a low 35 and 34 points, respectively.

Adrian finished second in the boys' standings with 37 points, while T-M-B was third with 76. Worthington (90) and PA (146) were the other complete teams.

Luverne was second in the girls' standings, scoring 59 points. Worthington was third with 79 points, while PA (82) and T-M-B (117) also had complete teams.

Tholen won the 5,000-meter boys' race with a time of 16:39, while the next 12 finishers were either from Lincoln, Adrian or Worthington.

Lincoln took places two, three, five, 12 and 13, just clipping Adrian by two points for the title. Nate Reyne was the Dragons' lead runner, finishing fourth with a time of 17:00.

Chris Reisdorfer (fifth, 17:23), Jordan Pater (sixth, 17:30), Kyle Henning (ninth, 17:50) and Brett Springman (11th, 18:06) completed the scoring for Adrian.

Worthington's O.J. Ojullu (eighth) and Aaron Grafing (10th) each turned in top-10 finishes, running times of 17:36 and 18:02, respectively.

Also running for the Trojans were Kreguto Okello (28th, 19:17), Michael Patten (30th, 19:20), Ian Fleace (40th, 19:59), Michael Harberts (47th, 20:18) and Zach VonHoldt (49th, 20:31).

Alex Jones was T-M-B's second runner, finishing 14th with a time of 18:20. Jeremy Hoflock (19th, 18:48), Joe Hook (24th, 19:06) and Reed Salmon (29th, 19:19) completed the scoring for the Panthers.

Luverne was led by Davontae Maine (15th, 18:26) and Nathan Stensland-Bos (18th, 18:42), while PA's Justin Ilse (23rd, 19:04) and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central's Rich Rohlik (31st, 19:23) led their respective teams in the 77-runner race.

Earlier, Schoonhoven finished with a time of 16:05 to win the 4,000-meter girls' race, and teammate Ann Marie Dykstra placed sixth with a time of 16:41.

Luverne's McKayla Schilling (fifth, 16:39) and Makayla Hohn (seventh, 16:49) each finished in the top-10, while Josey Hockelman (11th, 17:02), Rachael Saum (20th, 18:20) and Ashlie Hess (23rd, 18:50) also contributed to the Cardinals' team score.

Lydia Kemper (12th, 17:09) and Stephanie Jaycox (13th, 17:16) were Worthington's top finishers, while Deann Naab (16th, 17:40), Kirsten Aljets (21st, 18:25) and Kinzie Myrom (24th, 19:13) completed the scoring for the Trojans.

Jennifer Majerus (27th, 19:26), Maggie Fornoff (39th, 21:09), Kelsey Ray (40th, 21:10), Heather Loy (41st, 21:28) and Jamie Johnson (48th, 24:27) also ran for the Trojans in the 50-runner event.

T-M-B's Karli Tholen (16:22) raced to a second-place finish, while W-WG/RRC's Casey Brown (34th) led her team with a time of 20:20.
