WORTHINGTON - The Worthington High School “Spirit of Worthington” Trojan Marching Band claimed the Festival Spirit Award at the 15th annual Lake Crystal Battle of the Bands competition last Friday. Thirteen Minnesota high school bands and 1,400 student musicians participated, and the spirit award recognized the Trojans’ overall sense of spirit and sportsmanship in their appearance.
With its competitive debut of an all-new “We the People” parade show, the Trojans scored 72.8 points and placed third in the AA category at the well-attended event. The band is led by director Jon Loy and student commanders Davis Moore, Chris Lee, Sean Souksavath and Tad Stewart.
The Trojans will resume their marching band season Aug. 26, when they participate in the National Legion Parade in downtown Minneapolis.
