WORTHINGTON -- Students from Worthington Christian School were among those attending the Environmental Fair Sept. 21 and 22 at the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton.
The following are some students' reflection on their experiences:
"My name is Austin Metz from Worthington Christian School and I'm in the 5th grade.
On our field trip to the Environmental Fair we learned about how to help keep our rivers clean and about pollution. We also learned about reptiles, prairies, trees, and glaciers. We played water jeopardy.
I don't really have a favorite session because I liked them all. When we went to reptiles we learned about snakes, lizards, and turtles. Another session I liked was 3 rivers. In 3 rivers we learned about the Mississippi River, the Minnesota River, and the St. Croy River."

"I'm Anneke Weg. I'm from Worthington Christian School and I'm in the 5th grade. I went to the 2010 Environmental Fair. I learned that 3 glaciers covered Minnesota and that it takes about 1 year for a glacier to move 2-4". My favorite session is Three Rivers because it talked about what we do can effect the whole world and it had a water replica of a river and all the surroundings of a river."
"I am Abbi Mulder. I am a 6th grader at Worthington Christian School. My favorite session at the Environement Fair was reptiles. It was so fun! I learned that a boa constrictor snake can't wrap around you and kill you until its fully grown. I learned that a boa constrictor feels like rubber. I also learned that little turtles don't have teeth, but that doesn't mean that they can't bite you. Some little turtles can cut with their little beaks and that it will hurt! I learned that their was a glacier called the 'Wisconsin', and that it effected Minnesota. I also liked Three Rivers. I thought that it was cool to see a replica of a river and how dirty it can get. I think it was a very fun session."
"I am Alyssa Bousema from Worthington Christian School. I am in 5th grade. I participated in the 2010 Environmental Fair.
The field trip was very fun. I really liked the bus ride there and back. It was fun going with the St. Mary's school I really liked the soil it was my favorite session to participate in. I also liked water jeopardy. It was fun. We also won the game so we got a pencil made of a pair of jeans. It was fun. One thing I learned is that a snake is a very good pet. I really did not like the reptiles but they were cool. I really enjoyed the Environemental Fair. Thank you to the people who set it up for our school! It was fun!"
"Hi my name is O.D. Othow. I am from Worthington Christian School. I am in the 5th grade. We intended the Environmental Fair. My favorite session was the reptiles. He had a bunch of turtles and lizards and snakes. One thing I learned is that there were so much pollution in the rivers, and another session I liked was the prairies and they were so many different types of plants that he showed us. Also I liked the session that was called soil. We learned that the glacier went so slow and that it formed the Minnesota River. So that's what I learned and what were my favorite sessions."

"Hi, I am from Worthington Christian School and I'm in 6th grade. When we went to the Environmental Fair we saw many different things. One of my favorite things was the Reptiles. We got to see turtles, snakes, and lizards. I strongly disliked the rattle snake and lizard that looked like a snake. And we saw different kinds of turtles but I forgot the name but was so cute. Anyways some of the stuff was really interesting."
