MOORHEAD - Lisa Bratsch, who graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead this spring, has been fighting brain cancer since August.

On Saturday some of her many friends at MSUM put on a dance to raise money for her and also to enhance cancer awareness.

The Dragons Dance Team, of which Bratsch was a member, staged a "Thriller" dance at halftime of the MSUM-St. Cloud State University game.

The dance was popularized in a video by the late Michael Jackson.

Bratsch, 21, who was at home Saturday in Renville, Minn., said in a telephone interview prior to the event that she was "shocked" to learn what the dance team would be doing.

"She was overwhelmed, especially since she had already graduated," Vicky Bratsch, her mother, said in the phone interview.

Lisa Bratsch, who earned a nursing degree, said she was active in many school activities and has good memories of the school.

She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in August and has endured repeated surgeries and treatments.

She described her current mood "as good because I'm back home, but I'm not looking forward to the four months of chemo," she said.

Marissa Parmer, head coach of the MSUM dance team, said the team knew it wanted to do something at halftime of Saturday's game to honor Bratsch.

"We were brainstorming, and thought 'Thriller' would be great," Parmer said.

"We wanted to show Lisa that there's people everywhere in support of her," she said.
