WORTHINGTON - The Worthington City Council discussed a number of upcoming construction projects during its regular meeting Monday night,
The meeting opened with a public hearing regarding a plan to pave East Avenue from Nobles County 5 eastward to Rising Sun Estates. One neighbor testified against the project, citing the potential for raised property taxes as his concern. Another neighbor testified in favor, pointing to increased traffic from Rising Sun.
Council members voted unanimously to move forward with the plan to redo the stretch of road.
The council also discussed options for the Hotel Thompson building. The city had previously hired a contractor to repair the roof of the building, but Lighthouse Management Group recently decided to put the property up for auction. Council members debated whether or not to tell the contractor to proceed with replacing the roof.
After some discussion, council members decided they needed more time to consider the variables before voting and took no action.
