Three arrested following execution of narcotics search warrant

CURRIE โ€” Three individuals are facing multiple charges following the execution of a narcotics search warrant Thursday at a Currie residence.

The Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force (BRDTF), with the assistance of the Murray County Sheriff's Office, executed the warrant at a residence located at 151 Des Moines St. During the search of the residence, BRDTF agents seized 21.6 grams of methamphetamine along with multiple hypodermic needles and other item of methamphetamine paraphernalia. The items found by the BRDTF were easily accessible to the young children living in the residence.

As a result of the BRDTF's investigation and search warrant, James Morrison Hames, 23, April Jean Sell, 35, and Brian John Hames, 48, were each arrested. Each faces identical charges of third-degree controlled substance crime; fifth-degree controlled substance crime; store meth paraphernalia in the presence of a child or vulnerable adult; possess/control/manufacture/sell/furnish/dispense/dispose of hypodermic syringes/needles; possession of a small amount of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Third-degree drug possession is a felony that carries a maximum possible sentence of 20 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine. However, if each defendant is convicted, they will be sentenced based on criminal history.

All are being held in Lyon County Jail. J. Hames has bail set at $25,000 with conditions or $50,000 without; B. Hames $40,000 with conditions or $75,000 without; and Sell $5,000 with conditions or $25,000 without.
