Minnesota 60 work begins near St. James Monday
MANKATO — Weather permitting, construction will begin on Minnesota 60 in Watonwan County from St. James to Minnesota 15 on Monday.
During construction, eastbound and westbound Minnesota 60 traffic will be reduced to a single lane, head-to-head configuration on the westbound lanes. No detour is anticipated for through traffic on Minnesota 60, but there will be periodic bridge closures for Minnesota 4/Watonwan County 27 and Watonwan County 12.
This part of a two-year project, continuing through fall 2019. Thirteen miles of Minnesota 60 construction includes resurfacing existing pavement; resurfacing eastbound and westbound ramps; constructing a crossover at the west and east end of the project area to accommodate two-lane, two-way traffic; removing and replacing road signs; constructing a snow fence to mitigate snow drifts on Minnesota 60 at the Watonwan River Bridge; removing or replacing guardrails; and resurfacing and upgrades to the Minnesota 4/Watonwan County 27 bridge and Watonwan County 12 bridge over Minnesota 60.
PCiRoads of St. Michael was awarded the project with a bid of $27.5 million. For more information, visit mndot.gov/d7/projects/hwy60.
