Traffic switches planned next week on Minnesota 60

MANKATO — Early next week, Minnesota 60 motorists in Watonwan and Cottonwood counties will see traffic switching lanes once again, as the two construction projects get closer to wrapping up for the winter.

On the Minnesota 60 four-lane expansion between Windom and Mountain Lake, motorists may see eastbound traffic switched to the newly resurfaced eastbound lanes as early as Tuesday afternoon. Traffic will still be carried on one lane each way, but it will not be in a head-to-head configuration. The project is expected to be complete enough to open all four lanes by the end of November.

On the overlay project near St. James, eastbound motorists will be switched onto the inside passing lane of the newly paved eastbound lanes as erosion control and signing is still under way. Motorists will be able to use both of the westbound lanes.

In addition, the ramps at the Watonwan County Roads 12 and 57 interchanges will be open.  The Highway 4/CR 27 eastbound ramps will remain closed as the new pavement needs to cure. Work is expected to wrap up by the end of November and the project will fully reopen until work resumes in the spring of 2019 on the westbound lanes.
