ATWATER – Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash Saturday morning a few miles east of Atwater on Highway 12.

David Alan Blanchard, 56, and Mary Beth Blanchard, 53, both of Worthington, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Rice Hospital in Willmar by Atwater Ambulance.

According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, the 2011 Ford Focus driven by Levi Alan Blanchard, 22, of Worthington, was traveling west on Highway 12 when the driver attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle. When the vehicle began to make a left turn, the driver swerved left to avoid a collision and stopped in the southwest ditch.

The crash was reported at 12:53 a.m. All occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
