MANKATO -- The new U.S. Highway 71 bridge located one-half mile south of Minnesota 60 junction near Windom reopened to traffic Wednesday afternoon, according to officials at the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
U.S. 71 has been closed since July 12 and was expected to be complete by mid-October, but the contractor experienced a significant delay due to high waters in September.
The existing bridge was replaced. The new bridge features engineering improvements and improved functionality. Duininck Inc. was the prime contractor for the $1.5 million project.
