The United States Department of Agriculture Prospective Planting report was released on Thursday, March 31.
During February's annual ag outlook forum, early planting estimates were set at 92 million acres of corn, 88 million acres of soybeans and 48 million acres of wheat. Thursday's Prospective Planting report provides, "the first survey-based estimates of U.S. farmers’ planting intentions for the year,” according to King Whetstone, director of the NASS Northeastern Regional Field Office.
