I support passage of the bill to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot to recognize marriage as being between one man and one woman.

Someone from Minneapolis recently wrote a letter to the editor criticizing me for not signing a "Marriage Protection Pledge." The fact of the matter is I don't sign any pledges. When I was elected, I verbally pledged to do the best job possible for the residents of District 22. This is my commitment to you.

As someone who has been married for 56 years, I support marriage as it stands under Minnesota state law; marriage is a union between one man and one woman. The voters of Minnesota have a right to vote on this important issue, and I want to see this constitutional question on the ballot in November.
