WORTHINGTON — March was significantly warmer than average in Worthington, according to data provided by the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant and the National Weather Service.
The total precipitation recorded locally, meanwhile, was right about average compared to the same month in past years. Snowfall was less than half of what’s typical.
Highs and lows
Worthington’s average daily high temperature for March 1-31 is 39.7 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. However, the average daily high last month was 47 degrees, or 7.3 degrees above what’s normal for March. While it was certainly warmer than usual, the average maximum temperature was still well below the 56.9-degree mark set in 2012.
The average daily low temperature in the community for March 1-31 is 21.4 degrees, but March 2021 definitely wasn’t typical. The average daily low of 27.4 was 6 degrees above normal — and well above the 12-degree daily average low recorded in March 1975.
The average high temperature for Worthington during a typical January through March is 30.5 degrees, and the average corresponding low is 12.5 degrees. Readings for the three-month period in 2021 are 33.3 degrees (2.8 degrees above normal) and 16.1 degrees (2.6 degrees above normal).
The highest temperature recorded during the past month was 71 degrees on March 30. The lowest was 15 degrees on March 2.
