ST. PAUL- Minnesota Senate Republicans announced today that District 22 Sen. Bill Weber, R-Luverne, will chair the Senate Agriculture, Rural Development, and Housing Policy Committee again in 2019 and 2020. Weber also held the post during the 2017-2018 legislative session.
“A strong ag economy doesn’t just benefit greater Minnesota, it benefits the entire state,” Weber said. “Unfortunately, during the last few years, I have heard from too many farmers and families from Minnesota’s small towns that it’s getting more and more difficult to stay afloat.
“We have successfully pushed back against some of the shortsighted and harmful ideas such as unnecessary ‘verification of need’ language, but there is still much more we can do to get government off the back of Minnesota agriculture. I look forward to working with my colleagues and Gov.-elect Walz on creating even more opportunities for Minnesota’s farmers and rural communities.”
