The sister-city relationship of Crailsheim, Germany, and Worthington has been a remarkable one over the years, and the partnership's storied history began another chapter earlier this week.

Seventeen students from Crailsheim, as well as four teachers, arrived in Worthington late Tuesday night to begin what will be a visit of nearly three weeks. Host families -- well deserving of praise for their participation in this visit -- picked them up at Worthington High School, as they well after numerous days of varying activities.

One of many highlights of the trip should be Sunday, when the city's German guests attend the annual Crailsheim banquet at Worthington Country Club. It will be a great opportunity for supporters of the cities' student exchange program to meet the visiting contingent, and it should also give that group of a taste of how strong the connection between Worthington and Crailsheim continues to be after 60 years.

During their time here, the group of 21 Crailsheimers will visit each of District 518's schools, along with both St. Mary's and the Worthington Area Language Academy. They'll tour facilities such as Prairie Holdings Group and the Historic Dayton House, go roller skating and bowling, attend a performance by the Sioux Falls Symphony, go to the Mall of America and much more. It will be a wonderful chance to see much of what our area has to offer.

We enthusiastically welcome the newly arrived Crailsheim visitors. We hope they enjoy their stay -- and may it put an even firmer foundation on what already is a special intercity relationship.
